Hellooooooo!
Nice try Satan!!!!!!! Regardless of the many times you have tried to WRECK the work this week, it has continued and the week has still been incredible!!!
This week was freaking ridiculous! That's all I can say about it. A deer ran into our dang car, so we had to take it to the shop to get it repaired. Because of this, Tuesday and Wednesday we didn't have a car. Tuesday and Wednesday also just happened to be the two days this week that were 90+ degrees and 100% humidity. 🙃 We walked all around Mount Vernon on Tuesday and my lungs were on fire and I thought a Dementor was sucking out my soul. On Wednesday we were biking and I literally couldn't BREATHE. I had my inhaler with me and everything and nothing was working. I was dizzy from not breathing and because of the heat, I passed out and fell off of my bike!🙃 My Comp was so scared! I woke up and I was hyperventilating and not breathing. My lips were purple. She called 911 and an ambulance came and picked me up so ya know life is great! It was so embarrassing! But at least the paramedic was cute (even though I wasn't supposed to notice)! HaHaHaHa! 🙃 I was transported to the hospital and they gave me a breathing treatment and I was fine. I didn't break any bones or get any bruises because I am accustomed to falling, so I do it gracefully. Anyway...life is CRAZY!!! When I was in the ambulance I guess I was in shock and would not stop freaking out about our bikes getting stolen, so Sister Flora called one of our recent converts, Ed, and asked him to pick up our bikes for us so they wouldn't get stolen. LOL. At least I am responsible even while experiencing trauma.
By the time I got to the hospital I was just DONE with everything! I just wanted to be out doing missionary work. The mission president and his wife came to the hospital as well as our district leaders. It was such drama! But I really am fine!
Ed and his step-daughter, Shay ended up picking us up from the hospital and they took us to the mechanic shop so we could pick up the car. I was supposed to go home and sleep for the rest of the night after that, but I was like, "ya no, screw that." I felt like we just really needed to follow Ed back to his house and pick up our bikes RIGHT AT THAT MOMENT. Apparently, I am just concerned about the bikes. When we got to Ed's house to pick up our bikes, Ed had a friend visiting. The friend looked like he just needed a nice hug. I couldn't hug him, obviously, so we decided to start talking with him. He told us that he's staying at Ed' s house for a while so that he can get clean. This guy is highly addicted to CRYSTAL METH 👍(Welcome to Mount Vernon!!!!)! I knew he needed a hug but hopefully he felt comforted by the spirit because we started teaching him about Jesus Christ and his Atoning sacrifice for us. He seemed to be touched by the spirit. We invited him to be baptized and he was like, "yeah. Of course." He has a long way to go but he is really trying to overcome his addictions and many mistakes. He has so much potential and he really did feel the spirit. Currently, there are some drug lords looking for him (cool), but we are going to start teaching him at Ed's house. There is a 12 step program just a couple of towns over and Ed is going to take him there every week, so that he can get some help getting clean. He is a great guy and I have zero doubt in my mind, that he will eventually be able to over come his addictions. Through Christ, nothing is impossible. 😊 I could feel the love that Heavenly Father has for him as we spoke with him. My heart was almost bursting because of the love! I knew in that instant that he is a son of God and I could feel how much he needs the light of Christ in his life.
We were also able to teach Ed's 18 year old step-daughter, Shay. She has been to church a few times and has come to our Book of Mormon class, but she hasn't ever been interested in taking the lessons. She finally decided that she wanted to learn more! We taught her about the Restoration yesterday and I elected her to be our baptismal candidate on August 12th. She said agreed to the election and said "yes!!!" Hahahahaha! She's a candidate I will vote for! She is so cool. I am so excited for her!! That's now 3 baptisms scheduled for the month of August!!! Heck yes!!! The Lord has prepared so many people here in Mount Vernon! The field is so white!!!!
Another cool thing that happened this week: we were at Ashley' s house and she lives in a really sketchy neighborhood. It's the same neighborhood Ed lives in. Anyway, while we were there a cop came and knocked on her door and told us that the entire neighborhood was on lockdown and nobody could leave. Apparently there was a guy on drugs running around with a gun trying to break into people's cars in the neighborhood and they were trying to find him. Long story short, we heard lots of gunshots and eventually the guy was arrested and stuff but ya' know, life is crazy here in Mount Vernon!!! There is never a dull moment. But on a good note, we gave Ashley' s daughter, Gracen a CTR ring this week. She flipped when she found out we had matching rings! Now we can "choose the right" together.
Anyway, it's been an eventful week. I'm very tired. I'm gonna take a nap. I love y'all. Don't do crystal meth. Bye!
Love you,
Sister Hannah Thomas
